Mary Elizabeth Swartz

Mary Elizabeth Swartz, was born on 29 Jun 1843 in West Salem, Wayne County, Congress Township, Ohio. She was the daughter of William R. Swartz 1820-1908 and Elizabeth Ann Bonewitz 1824-1897. Mary died on 8 Mar 1923 (#2396), in Wellington, Wayne County, Ohio. A document exists that records the birth dates of William R. Swartz, his wife Elizabeth Bonewitz, parents Henry Swartz and Anna Elizabeth Riblet, and two of his children, Mary Elizabeth and Henry Franklin. The author is assumed to be William Swartz. The document is from a Swartz descendent and genealogical researcher, Carol (Immel) Nelson, Idaho (#2399).  Mary Elizabeth is buried in West Salem Cemetery, Wayne County, Ohio.

Mary Elizabeth and her sister Matilda (Swartz) Rogers. The names on the back of photo do not say which lady is which but Elizabeth is about four years older than Matilda. Hopefully another photo of either person will turn up to settle the mystery.

On 26 Jan 2012, thanks to the help of (Shannon) a direct Swartz descendent who compared Matilda Swartz to their personal photos, Matilda was identified as the taller lady on the right side of this photograph.
