Anna Gertrude Fromme

Anna Gertrude Fromme was born 27 Nov 1844 in Ostbevern, Westfalen, Prussia. Her parents were Johann Heinrich Fromme 1803-1864 and Anna Maria Elisabeth Bruske 1818-1901. Anna Gertrude Fromme and her son Bernard Heinrich emigrated to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1867. Gertrude's parents never came to American. They died in Ostbever. She gave birth to a son in Ostbevern in 1865, named Bernard Heinrich. His name was Henry B. Kohus 1865-1921. No father was reported on his birth record (#195) so Gertrude must not have been married at the time her son's birth. Bernard's godfather, indicated on his birth record from St. Ambrosius Church was Bernard Kohues 1825-1885 the brother of Joan Heinrich Kohues 1838-1913 who Gertrude later married in Cincinnati, Ohio at St. Paul Church on 23 Jul 1867.  Bernard Kohues 1825-1885 immigrated to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1865. Gertrude Fromme immigrated in 1867 and married Henry Kohus on 23 Jul 1867 at the St. Paul Church,Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. At the time of immigration he Americanized his name to Henry Kohus. Henry was a tailor by trade. He worked in his own tailoring businesses in Cincinnati and later in life he included his son Henry B. Kohus in a business venture called Kohus and Son. Anna and Henry had six children: Henry B. 1865-1921, George 1872-1873, William 1874-1906, Edward Frederick 1877-1952, Gertrude 1883-1942 and Florence 1884-1972. Anna Gertrude (Fromme) Kohus died in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio, on 4 Jan 1909. Her husband Henry Kohus died 5 Apr 1913 in Cincinnati. They are both buried in Calvary Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio.na Gertrud
