Frances Edward Kohus

 1908-1977

Frances Edward Kohus was born on 5 Feb 1908, the son of Edward Frederick Kohus 1877-1952 and Loretta C. Dillhoff 1877-1961, in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio,. He married Grace Eddingfield 1905-1963, daughter of Charles and Mary Eddingfield. His second wife was Evelyn Katherine Wolf 1909-2002. Frances is a descendent of the  Johan Heinrich Kohues 1838-1913 line, one of three brothers who immigrated to America from Ostbevern, Prussia in the mid 19th century. On Frank's Social Security application, dates1937 (#178), it states that he was employed at the Strobridge Lithographing Company, 4530 Main Avenue, Norwood, Ohio. I have seen his name in  Who Was Who in American Art. Compiled from the original thirty-four volumes of American Art Annual: Who's Who in Art, Biographies of American Artists Active from 1898-1947. Edited by Peter Hastings Falk. Madison, CT: Sound View Press, 1985. I have also seen children's books from the 150's illustrated by him. I was told by one of his descendants that he spent his working career as a commercial artist. Frances Edward Kohus died on 24 Sep 1977 and is buried in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio.
