Elizabeth Ann Bonewitz

1824-1897

Elizabeth Ann Bonewitz was born on 1 Oct 1824, the daughter of Solomon Bonewitz 1796-1876 and Mary Stecher 1806-1894. She married William R. Swartz 1820-1908 in June 1842. Elizabeth (Bonewitz) Swartz died on  29 Nov 1897. Elizabeth and her husband William are buried in West Salem Cemetery, West Salem, Wayne County, Ohio, Row 21.

Obituary:  Elizabeth Ann Swartz (nee Bonewitz) of Congress township, was born October 1, 1824, died November 29, 1897, aged 73 years, 1 month and 28 days. She was married to William R. Swartz in June 1842. To this union were born eight children, four boys and four girls. Seven children are still living, the youngest, a son preceded his mother four years ago from the church militant to the church triumphant. She was a kind and loving companion and mother and a helpful neighbor to all who were in need. She united with the M. E. Church December 1844. During this time, she has been a faithful and consistent member until death. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. Mead. She was laid to rest in the West Salem Cemetery to await the resurrection morn. (Wayne County Democrat, 8 Dec 1897, page 3)
