Elizabeth Mielenbrink

Elizabeth Mielenbrink was born in Prussia, Feb 1838. The 1937 birth year on her headstone differs from the 1900 census (#1018)  The census stated that she is 62 years old with a birth date as Feb 1838. 1900 minus 62 years is correct math. More research will be needed to confirm her date of birth. Elizabeth married Hermann Heinrich Kohues/ Herman Kohus 1826-1900 on 28 Oct 1856 at the St. Philomena Church, in the Over-the-Rhine district of Cincinnati, Ohio (Cincinnati restored marriage records) The St. Philomena Church is still there today. Herman Kohus, a shoemaker by trade, was one of three Kohues/Kohus brothers to immigrate from Ostbevern, Prussia to Cincinnati, Ohio in the mid 19th century. Elizabeth Mielenbrink and Herman Kohus had at least seven children, Veronica 1860-1947, Bernard 1862-1937, Louis 1865-1888, Minnie 1868-1930, Louisa 1875-1947, Emma1877-1940 and Clara 1880-?. Elizabeth (Mielenbrink) Kohus died in Nov 1907. Both she and her husband Herman are buried in Old St. Joseph's Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio.
