Samuel Hargis was born in Elliott County, Kentucky, the son of Jacob Hargis 1837-1915 and Isouria McGraw 1859-1915. He married Eunice Johnson 1890-1971. Samuel died on 24 Mar 1947 in Rowan County, Kentucky. He is buried in Brown Cemetery near Morehead in Rowan County.
