Ruth Kathryn Smedley was born 9 Dec 1885 in Craney, Morgan County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Daniel Boone Smedley 1858-1947 and Mary Eliza Ellington 1861-1911. Ruth married William Lemuel Hargis on 20 Dec 1900 in Rowan County, Kentucky. William was the son of Thomas T. Hargis 1856-1884 and Martha Ellen Fraley 1864-1909. Ruth and William are buried in Lee Cemetery, Morehead, Rowan County, Kentucky.
