Harve Sanders Hargis

1877-1946

Harve Sanders Hargis was born 10 Apr 1877 in Rowan County, Kentucky. He was the son of Jacob Weddington Hargis 1828-1915 and Nancy Jane Calhoun 1842-1919. Harve Hargis married Julia Mae Sargent on 27 Nov 1902 in Morgan County, Kentucky. Together they had at least 6 children I can name: Lila (about) 1904-, Elmer 1905-1980, Baby 1909-1909, Auda 1911-1911, Christine H. 1915-2010, Linvile D. (about) 1916-.

Harve and Julia (Sargent) Hargis raised their family on a farm located between Pagagon and Craney, Kentucky. Their property was located near the old Hargis Cemetery where two of their children were buried in 1909 and 1911. The Hargis Cemetery was relocated during the construction of Cave Run Lake in the early 1970's. Most of the graves were moved to Alfrey Cemetery in Rowan County. Harve and Julia however, were already buried in Brown Cemetery near Morehead when the Hargis Cemetery was moved, so their children were moved to Brown Cemetery and buried near them. Harve Hargis died 5 Apr 1946 in Winchester, at the Clark County Hospital in Kentucky (#263). Julia died on 7 Jan 1962 in Bath County, Kentucky.
