Solomon Bonewitz

Solomon Bonewitz was born in Stephens Neck, Berkley County, Virginia. He moved to Congress Township, Wayne County, Ohio about 1824 and moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana sometime between 1860-1870. Solomon  was the 4th son of Jacob Bonawitz and Mary Stecher.  He became Treasurer of Congress Township in 1828. In 1830 he was a Trustee and held office various county offices until 1848. He and his wife owned 160 acres which they farmed until 1866 when they along with two younger sons moved to a farm near Fort Wayne in Allen County, Indiana. They are buried in Antioch Cemetery at Hoagland. According to Wayne County records, James Criss owned the homestead in Wayne County in 1876.
