Maria Eva Rosanna Specht

Marriage records from the Christ Lutheran Church of Tulpehocken, Berks County, Pennsylvania list John Jacob Bonewitz and Eva Rosanna Specht. November 27, 1781.

Jacob Bonewitz 1761 - 9 Mar 1818. He married Eve Rosanna Specht on  27 Nov 1781  Maria Rosanna Specht was baptized May 3, 1757 in Bern Twp, Berks County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Martin Specht and Justina Margaretha. Maria Rosanna Gruberin was a sponsor. Marie Eva Rosanna Specht was confirmed in  1773, age 16, at the Corner Church near Robesonia. An 1784 tax list shows Jacob at Heidelberg with 90 acres, 2 horses, 2 cows and 2 sheep. He and Eve sold at least part of the homestead in 1795 and were on a tax list at Stephen's Keck in Berkeley County, Virginia (now West Virginia) in 1800. The obituary of Solomon, their son, born 1796, says the family moved to Payette County, Pa., when he was five years old. Records show that in 1808 Jacob bought 79¼ acres which was part of a tract known as "Franconia", in German Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Jacob and Eve are buried in the Old Dutch Cemetery in German Twp. ( info from the BOOK of Bonawitz and Bonewitz by Oby Bonewit, 1970)
