Michael bought government land in section 5 in Doylestown in 1816. Church services were held at peoples homes in the early day. About 1834, Lutheran Church services were being held at the home of Michael Brouse. Michael Brouse was a veteran of the Revolutionary War and is buried in or near Doylestown, Wayne County, Ohio. In 1846 Michael deeded land to be used for the site of a church to the trustee of the Newcomer Chapel. This church was later used by the United Brethren Congregation. The church, was commonly called the Brouse Church and was disassembled in the late 1860's and removed to Easton, Ohio where it was reconstructed and used as a dwelling.
