John Brouse's family was counted twice on the 1850 census. Once on 20 Aug 1850 at the home of John's father Michael O Brouse, and once on 23 August at the home of Isaac Middleton living next door to his wife's father Thomas Frederick .

 

BROUSE FAMILY.
Michael Brouse and his son Michael were among the first settlers of Chippewa. He died Nov. 6th, 1854, aged 102. Michael, jr., died May 13th, 1859, aged 48. Sons: John, Michael, William, Curtis, Jacob, and Frederick. (Wadsworth Memorial By Edward Brown 1875)

 

John Brouse is buried in the Old Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Doylestown, Ohio. His headstone was removed back in the 1950s when the church removed all the headstones and installed a single memorial marker. The Wayne County Genealogical Society transcribed portions of the cemetery before the headstones were removed.
