William R. Swartz was born 27 Feb 1820 to the parents of Henry Swartz and Anna Elizabeth Riblet in Bloody Run, Hopewell Twp., Bedford Co., Pennsylvania. He married Elizabeth Ann Bonewitz in Jun of 1842 in Wayne County, Ohio. To this union were born at least 9 children: Mary Elizabeth, Henry, Matilda, Sarah Jane, Rebecca Susan, Solomon Esli, Robert Austin, Olpha and Daniel Riblet Swartz. William was a farmer by trade and resided in Wayne County, Ohio from at least 1850, possibly earlier, until his death on 23 Oct 1908.
William R. Swartz is buried in West Salem Cemetery, West Salem, Wayne County, Ohio.
