KOHUS, Johann (Obituary). He was born on 19 Sep 1828 in Ostbevern, Westphalia. After he had learned the tailoring trade in his hometown, he emigrated on 29 Sep 1849, via Bremen, landing in New Orleans in October of the same year. He arrived in Cincinnati in the spring of 1850, where he opened his own business and attained comfortable circumstances. He has lived, since becoming a member of the Pionier-Verein in November 1874, on the corner of Poplar Street and Western Avenue, where he died on 25 Oct 1875. He is survived by his wife and several children, who mourn his early death. (from the Der Deutsche Pioniere.
